The construction on Pasque Meadow, a 40-unit apartment complex in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was nearly completed when a heater accidentally left running by a contractor ignited a fire. The blaze began inside the development around 9:30 on a Sunday evening and took firefighters until 2:30 the next morning to control. The building was destroyed. The future of the development was in question, but ASI worked with the city of Sioux Falls and government funders to recapture funds and rebuild. Today Pasque Meadow is almost entirely filled. Verla Meyer is just one of many sociable residents who have found a comfortable home and opportunities for companionship here. There are almost daily opportunities for socializing: coffee klatches, parties, game nights, potlucks, outings…. Although Pasque Meadow had a rough start, this ASI housing project proves that good things can rise from difficult beginnings.
